Burning Man is overwhelming in all ways. One of the biggest draws and inspirations is the countless artworks displayed throughout the Playa. Though there are so many worth noting, one in particular stood out for me. R-Evolution, by Marco Cochrane captured everyone’s attention with it soring height and delicate touch. The metal mesh sculpture not only towers over the Playa, looking down majestically at we mere mortals, but the chest cavity actually pulses, like that of a breathing woman. It is a marvelous intersection of manmade grandeur and intimate humanity.

The sheer scale and logistical challenges of fabricating and transporting such an art piece to the desert is gargantuan. Yet Marco and his team delicately created, deconstructed, recreated and deconstructed the woman in order for it to grace the Playa for one week of dust storms and beautiful clear blue skies.

My interview with Marco left me silent and moved by the depth of this artist and his sincere effort at bringing light into our world.

Thank you, Marco for the wonderful R-Evolution art work. Constructed of steel rod and balls and covered in stainless steel mesh, with LED lighting effects, R-Evolution is a 48 foot tall sculpture of a woman, Deja Solis, standing firmly with both feet on the ground, eyes closed, arms open at her sides, palms forward, a peaceful expression- present.http://www.blissdance.us
